Sip beer, sample brats at home brew festival | OregonLive.com

Whether you love to brew beer or just drink it, the Forest Grove Senior Center invites you to its third annual Brats'n Homebrew festival on Saturday.

Entry is $5 and the event runs from noon to 5 p.m. at the Forest Grove Senior Center, 2037 Douglas St. Proceeds from the festival benefit the senior center and its programs.

The event lets local home brewers and those interested in the hobby to gather, share information and enjoy the fruits of their labor. Those new to home brewing can ask questions and learn about beer making.

"This is a very relaxed event held in our backyard. Beer people are really relational and love to talk and share stories with others," said John Schallberger, executive director of the Senior Center. "Although beer and beer making is the focus, everyone is invited to enjoy a nice afternoon in the grass under the shade of our huge oak tree, to listen to some music and sample some great brats and sausages off the grill."

About four to eight brewers will attend and offer samples. Some will be brewing at the event. Beer sampling is by invitation only, and for guests 21 and older.

Local musicians will perform from 1 to 3 p.m. The event is open to all ages. Soft drinks and snacks will be available for purchase.
